Inexpensive Bottom Paint OK If Boat On Lift?

Bought a Hunter 23 in good shape. Boat will be on a lift. Bottom needs to be repainted. Can I get away with using an inexpensive bottom paint as the boat will only be in the water during the day? (Sail on the Chesapeake Bay). Was considering Rustoleum bottom paint at Home Depot. Anything I need to be fearful of. Trying to save a few dollars since I am repairing keel and rudder prior to launching her.

if you are just going to dry sail it, why even bother with bottom paint? Justscrub it each time you haul out. Start with a thoroughly clean bottom and maintain it.

I'm with Doug......... just keep the bottom clean until you have enough money for a good ablative paint.

I keep my boat on a trailer. And I have rustoleum for the paint on my bottom. Not rustoleum bottom paint, just plain old rustoleum. A quick rinse off at the end of the day and the occasional pressure wash is all it needs. It has been three seasons and it is still looking good. I've left my boat in the water up to a week at a time, several times, and the pressure wash was all I needed to get the bottom smooth again.
