I want to paint the interior of my 1981 C30. The overhead and exterior bulkhead have the textured fiberglass. What is the best way to approach this project. Anyone else done this with the roll and tip method or just using a roller and what type of paint? Was primer used? Just looking for any suggestions. The Admiral wants to change the color from the drab brownish color to bright white. She is ready to get this done so i have to strike while the iron is hot. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

to change the color from the drab brownish color to bright white.
Beware "bright white" by itself. Lynn & Larry Pardey discussed the downside of bright white to eyes. Really. And after a day on the water, it can be overwhelming, and, just plain too much. They recommend adding a small amount of blue to the white. Takes the edge off.

Sorry, no ideas about specific methods or materials.

You can use any enamel. Many companies, such a Interlux, make a "yacht interior enamel" . I painted over a formica type table using products recommended by a Benjamin Moore consultant. I was very pleased with the outcome... so I refinished the ugly wood veneer. Take Stu's advice and go non glossy.... if you want white.... don't go with bright. Try eggshell, off white, etc.

Thank you. I would definitely add the blue. Do you have any pics of your countertop?
