We have owned our H34 since new in 85. We sailed weekends and vacations till 95 then went cruising. We cruised the east coast and the Bahamas for 3 years. We will return to cruising next year. We found our boat to be surprisingly adequate except for storage and tankage. We have made some modifications, vertical salon cabinets, shelves in vee and over galley sink, etc. We would appreciate any info on other modifications.

My mods

I did the following, 1. Removed useless drawers under V berth, Installed new 25 gallon holding tank in this spot. Cut existing V berth support to fit over new holding tank to support V berth. Installed new wall at rear of tank to hide from view. 2. Moved batteries from rear locker to old holding tank spot. Built a small opening like the fire extinguisher one to house a new battery switch. There's room for three batteries, two house with one starting. Installed a Heart battery combiner to separate sources. Mounted battery charger under chart table. 3. Next, Remove bulkhead on starboard side of aft berth, move fuel tank to transom area, turn berth sideways in boat. 4. Installed refrigeration unit under salon settee beside hot water tank.

Additional Mods

Bob, Sounds as if you have done quite a bit! I found room for my Heart charger/inverter in the port cubby area behind the settee seat back, just in front of the nav station. Placed house batteries ahead of the port water tank (4 T-105's) and next to the water heater (2 T-105's). Increased the holding tank to 28 gal. leaving it in the same location under the starboard forward dinette seat. Installed shelves in the quarter birth locker. Increased size of the V-birth starboard cabinet. Removed drawers and added shelves with fiddles and doors under V-birth (in part to accommodate AC unit). Increased size of storage area behind head. Modified galley dish 'box', now three compartments with two doors. Replaced Microwave and trimmed out appropriately. Hinged (w/gas strut assist) icebox door, dry storage top and converted wastebasket location to pots and pans storage. I would love to see your modifications. We are heading down to Englewood next month to visit my folks but it's quite a ways from Edgewater! Oh well... If you have the ability to send pics I would greatly appreciate it.
