Does anyone have any experience with the "Incinolet" incinerating toilet. I am thinking of installing it in my 1984 Hunter 40, but want to make sure it is both effective and durable. How many years of service should I be able to expect and is it relatively dependable (does not need a lot of repair)?

You don't want one!

Have you actually checked 'em out, or are just intrigued by the (erroneous) idea that you only have to push a button and waste turns into ash in quick "whoosh?" They only run on 115v/ac power, so you could only use it if you have a generator...the total burn time is 90 minutes--and that's not always long enough to complete reduce solids to ash...they require frequent cleaning...and the list price for the smallest model (4 people) is $1750. Your waters are not "no discharge"...so if you want an alternative to a holding tank, why not just install a Lectra/San (CG Certified Type I MSD that treats waste and discharges it legally in all waters except those specifically designated "no discharge")? Uses no toxic chemicals--creates chlorine by charging the ions in salt water with electrical current...uses 12v power...can be used with any toilet...requires almost -0- maintenance...and averages about $750 at discount. A number of people here have installed a Lectra/San and love 'em. All the specs for it, including the manual, are on the Raritan website at http://www.raritaneng.com
