Inner forestay
Rod,The previous owners of our Rasmus 35 fitted a moveable inner forstay for a storm jib. We've not had occasion to use it yet but it's nice to know it's there. The stay has two fixing points on deck, one just aft of the small forehatch/chain locker for when the stay is in use, and one on the starboard outer deck just forward of the starboard shrouds for when it's not being used. This keeps it nicely out of the way of the genoa. It has a quick release lever and T-bar fitting and is very easily and quickly moved into and out of position. When we bought the boat our surveyor said he felt the through deck fixing was probably not reinforced enough and I tend to agree. It is simply bolted through the deck with a small wooden backing plate on the underside - there's not much room for a larger backing plate so I'm not sure at present how it could be reinforced.Jeremy
