Yep, Walt's got it! Boomkicker bracket.

I just installed a new Boomkicker on a friend's O'day 222, and they are using different bracket hardware now. That's why I didn't immediately recognize it… :D

I used to have a boomkicker and that bracket on the boom looks just liike the one I had.. I think they changed the design a little recently?

Picture from the boomkicker web site..

Uh, oh! Looks like the Boomkicker I installed was old skool, according to Jackdaw's description. It has holes in it, with a moveable pin, and the guys at Boomkicker said we could drill new holes in the bracket if we needed more adjustability.

I have a Boomkicker on my little boat, and I love to hate it. It's great, because it prevents the boom falling into the cockpit when dousing the main, but it doesn't have a positive bracket for the boom - rather the boom sits on a webbing cradle. If you push the boom down, the rods of the kicker pop out from under the boom, and THEN it falls into the bottom of the boat. Like, say you accidentally get off balance and reach out and lean on the suspended boom. POP! Clatter. Awww, man!
