Questions needed answering

#1: what happened to the old one, do you still have it? #2: is the shaft bent or broken off?, #3: is the glass casing in tact?, I the answer to 2,3, are yes, it can be repaired and save you #500 bucks, if the shaft is bent, cut it off below and above the bend, add a piece of S/S rod/shaft to the inside I.D., bolt or weld, then grind smoothe for fit, if the casing is gone, repair the inner foam shape and cover with glass, to buy a new one, if you can find one will cost $800 or more, you could da a lot of repair for that money.

Rudder

There's not enough time & money in the world to be saved by repairing a rudder. They take termindious loads don't "FOOL AROUND" with it. Call Foss Foam they built your orginally and can fix you up 727-571-3626 Al Walker He's located in FL.

rebuild it

Rebuilding the rudder can give you one that is stronger than the original. The 2" OD stainless steel welded tube shaft on mine let go via crevice corrosion right below the glass line. You can cut off the damaged area and place a SS insert in. I did not go with a solid insert, but I did put in a much beefier (0.175" wall thickness) insert to connect the rudder to the upper shaft. Note: if you have the boat on the hard, and you cannot dig a hole under the rudder, the shaft is too long to put in the new one. I can be done in the water, however, with little trouble.
