Can anyone advise if you can get the "in mast" furling option on the 260, or is it only available the larger models. Thanks

Check out Schafer

Spelling is wrong on Schafer, I think, but I remember a recent artical in Sailing, I believe, that suggested that they are making them for 22' and up boats.

Call Hunter Dealer

From looking at the Hunter website, doesn't look like it's an option on the 260. If my memory serves me, I think it starts at the 29.5 and up.

In mast roller furling

I have already installed an in mast roller furling system and it stunk. First, it is an aftermarket item that would have to be added to the back side of the mast adding alot of weight. It is harder to pull the mast up. Secondly, roller furling systems require a mast be straight and the 260 is designed to have a prebend in it. You loose speed and performance no matter what. Also, if you are racing, we know you will loose appx 1/2 knot of speed. It is more difficult to transport the mast with the furling system sitting on the mast crutch which will bend it. There are other concerns but the cost for this type of system could cost as much as $5,000. Remember you will have to get a new mainsail too. Been there and tried it while cussing after loosing $4,000 out of my pocket. I do not recommend a furling mainsail system for a trailerabel boat at this time. It will be interesting to see what Harken comes out with. Crazy Dave Condon

What brand was the add on unit

Can you tell me who made the add-on furling unit that you used?
