Attention: O'Day TEMPEST owners. I am in a fix and I would trade my firstborn if I had one, to get out of it. I am desperately seeking a rudder cap for a 1970'(?) s O.Day TEMPEST made in Canada. The rudder post has a groove in it and and a rectangular cube slides down a groove and holds a stianless steel (?) rudder cap in place. Unfortunately my ruddercap is bably corroded one of the holes in the back of it broke off and a bolt that usually secures the tiller to it has a lot of wiggle room. Bottom Line is I need a new rudder cap. And I can't find one anywhere. Does anybody out there have any suggestions???? Does anyone out there have a clue what I am talking about???? I realize my description is abstract and I will probably end up having to take a digital picture photo of exactly what I need. In any case any help would be appreciated of what I might do??????

You can try Rudy

Try Rudy at D&R Marine. His contact info is in the links section of this site. Rudy used to work for Oday and has a lot of the molds and plenty of ideas for replacement parts. If he can't help you, rest assured that you can get a replacement. Either your rudder or some other stock part can be retrofitted. If worse comes to worse, you can always have one custom made. It's only money, right?
