Has anyone ever used a Cabella mattress pad, the kind that is touted to campers as self inflating, on top of the cheap 3" foam cushion that doubles as a bunk in most older sailboats ? If so, has it worked for you ? Did it substantially increase the comfort of the bunk ? Thanks for the response, nomar

Yes indeed

Those inflatable camping mattresses really work. Much better on the back and little or now backache in the morning. Be sure to store them flat and with the nipple open. Be sure to get a quality product too, not some wannabe air mattress. I think they run $50-$80. Best money you'll ever spend.

Absolutely....

I am 61, was a scout master for nine years, camped many times, everywhere, and the Therm-A-Rest pad is the ONLY way to go. I am 6'4" so I use the XL or extra long. I have used one on my boat for three years. You will definately rest better. And, don't fill it full of air (tight), it will be to hard, just let it self-inflate for about 30 minutes, then blow just a little more air in, and colse it. You will get a very good nights sleep.

camping pad

I took a piece of black camping foam from sportsmans wearhouse and cut it to size and placed it under my mattress. works great. cost under $40 for a queen size.
