Improving below-deck ventilation - Part 2

The louvered vent in the main bulkhead went in last Saturday, and took less than an hour. I secured the vent in place by screwing four brass screws in from the forepeak side. It looks great and although the airflow is less than I expected, it does work.If you try this yourself, cut through the bulkhead from the forepeak, and not from the main cabin like I did. That way the ragged edges of the cut will be covered by the louver frame. The opening port in the cockpit footwell will have to wait until I finish fixing my trailer.PeterS/V Raven

I llike the idea of the louvers, did u notice any change in strength or support or is this for show and not support, great idea, Mike

The hole in the bulkhead was just large enough for the louver to slide in and it's a snug fit. I used six #8 x 5/8" brass flathead wood screws, screwed in from the back (forepeak side). They are countersunk in the bulkhead, which is 1/4-inch marine ply. It's solid.Peter
