The experimental aluminum tubing one failed on first outing. Now replaced with 1.5" diameter solid Stainless steel rod and beefed up backing plates for 3 U bolts holding it to the foredeck. This proved sucessful and has worked well with minimal deflection reaching with a Doyle UPS genneker in 15 knots apparent.
