Improved Mounting of Stern Pulpit

My stern pulpit is loose, and not mounted in a couple spots. Was hoping to put a bracket (something to hold the rail and mount it to the surface) around the bottom of each rail.

There is a cable running up through the stern pulpit. Maybe this needs to be taken out or replaced? Otherwise I'd need something that could be deck mounted in two parts, as I wouldn't be able to slide it under the rail.

Hoping to be able to mount davits to the back.

Wow. What was supposed to keep it in place originally?

I can imagine the wire routed through a flange with a hole in the center. Once again it would require removing the wire and re-installing after the flange is welded on.

Thanks for the response Ken- it really looks like there was never a flange in place...I was wondering if maybe there was a two piece flange (split vertically) that would fasten in to place and could be mounted on the deck. No welding required?

Also- anyone have a link to flanges for purchase online?

Looks like this may be a "Katrina" survivor? Each stanchion must have a flange at the base of the tubing, a backing plate under the deck and should be through bolted. If you are making davits, perhaps you can incorporate the pushpit into the design, making both stronger. If you are buying production davits, make sure you have access under the deck for backing plates large enough to support that much torque.

would fit the deck area. Match the tube size.
If the tube isn't 90 degree to the deck check other fittings Sailorman has available. If you don't find what you're looking for search for bimini hardware and lifeline hardware. Stanchion bases might work too.
For the spots that are loose, need to eyeball the area underneath to make sure it's not because of rotten backer wood.
