Selden have agreed to pay for costs involved in the repair.
As would any reasonable person expect, all costs must be pre-approved, and involve the services of a professional rigger. This is so that Selden can be assured the job is done to their high quality levels.
Good move Selden!
I can assure you that you can expect boat owners will very willingly cooperate with you, and help keep costs to a minimum.
Here's a big "Thank you" to Hunter Marine, and especially Eddie Breeden for working through this. Great customer support guys!!

This is good news. However; so far I have not been able to learn of a professional rigger here in Puerto Montt. I do know of one in Valdivia, but whether Selden will cover the travel and accommodation costs involved in bringing him in is the question.

Hello Michael
I have received the update kit from Selden.
You appear to be very well "founded" on boats, and I am quite technical as well.
In all due repect to Selden's effort in trying to formulate a plan for doing this with mast up, I can tell you that this is complex.
It will be an order of magnitiude easier with the stick down.
I would not expect Selden to pay for a rigger to travel to your boat, as there is an alternative way of resolving this.
Once the mast is down, this is a relativley simple procedure, from what I can see on paper.
In any case, Selden has committed to standing behind this, which is the right thing to do.

Define a "proffessional rigger". The common definition would be one that charges for providing rigging services. Is there a Riggers College or Proffesional Association issuing licenses? Is a permit required to do work on a rig? In Chile? I'm sure Selden understands that these big boats will be found all over the world and conditions do not always fit our conventions.

I believe you are correct that Selden is looking for you to hire someone that engages in marine services professionally. As with most warranty and service claims, there is a certain amount of trust & integrity involved.
Selden wants to be sure that this work is done properly, so that this won't come back to haunt them.
If the mast is pulled, then it is a pretty straight forward job.
I have read through the instructions supplied with the refit kit, and this would not be an easy job in a bosun's chair. It can be done, as I know of 1 rigger that has managed it.
I am planning on simply pulling my spar in the spring.
