what exactly do you mean..... is it very tight going in?? Did you snap picture before you removed the old one? I just changed mine for the first time on my 4jh4e (2005) and it was tight.... but doable. I always snap a picture (or many) before I remove anything just as a reference point. I also grease the shaft to help go in and for it to come out next time I change.

One of those vanes is bent opposite the others. That is a very tight fit. Center even looks deformed

If all else fails, you might try wrapping a thin zip tie around it with the vanes all folded in the proper direction. After it's in, just cut the zip tie and pull it out.

We use dish soap as a lube for this. Next time make sure all the vanes are going the right way. Often it takes a little twist just as you enter the pump housing to get everything right.

Try folding the blades some with cable tie. It may help easier inserting. I understand you don't need to bend blades in right direction as it'll sort itself out once it spin. Your call.

Or use a hose clamp, it doesn’t take much to get it started. Also lube the shaft that spins the impeller.

yea...one of the vanes went backwards however these things are pretty resilient. After I stuck it in I hand turned it and it flopped nicely. All good. It was very tight though..... like the idea of zip tie to hold it tight in please. Will do that next time.
