I'm official: Boat shows up on google earth...

Google earth updated my area and now my boat shows up...

Come on, you've done the same thing with your boat.

I feel like Steve Martin in the Jerk when he found his name in the phone book,
"I'm somebody now!" lol





And this was interesting, a shot of the harbor just a few weeks after Katrina...notice the nice pile of boats in the parking lot.

Pretty cool, Ken.. In the previous picture, I was on the boat because my car was there at the slip.. This one 11/30/11, I was at home ..Amazing how much detail is there..

Whenever I check Bing or Google Earth for places in southern New England I frequent they show the harbors obviously in the off season with almost no boats on moorings or at anchor.

I checked out my boat in the driveway of the PO before I got it. I noticed he had a power boat there as well. I asked him about it and he said that it was just easier to turn the key and go than sail... His Loss!
I hope the absentee slum lord that owns the place next to me doesn't check the sat images. He may start charging me for parking half my boat on his lawn! Hope not. I painted his garage 2 years ago for free. (Without him knowing at the time.)
I'm ok! I just checked. No boat.

Nothing really new here. I've used Google satellite view to help direct new guests to my boat for several years now.

I'm the boat to the lower left of the empty berth in the below link.

Amazing the detail that is captured from way out in space. I also can almost see each shingle on the roof of my house.

When my kids were smaller we were regular attendees of the air show at Belle Chase NAS.

Sail over to Pensacola. The Blue Angels do a practice airshow every Tuesday and Wednesday. They have a huge grandstand set up right next to the runway for people to watch (it's free and open to the public). Most Wednesdays the pilots then sign autographs in the atrium at the Naval Aviation Museum next door.

I was a crew member on KC-130s during my time in the Marine Corps, Fat Albert, the C-130 that tours with the Blue Angels (and is painted to match) gets its crew picked from the FMF, it was one of those dream jobs that you really had to suck up for - which left me out, but I like to stop by Fat Albert and talk to the crew whenever I'm there. Since it's basically a public relations and recruiting tool they only pick the best, not just the pilots, but support and maintenance too. It's really very impressive.

I actually participated in few air shows at MCAS El Toro, CA, we did a JATO takeoff in the KC-130 - cool to watch and even cooler from the inside.
