Finally after a winter of rehab and refresh I got the Lady back in the water again...

Was hoping to step and launch tomorrow (Friday) and sail the weekend, but got last minute "volunteered" for some community service work Friday.. so I ran up quick and dipped her today...

It was last minute so they couldn't step me this afternoon, but they did give me a free slip for the weekend and are going to raise the stick first thing tomorrow..

I'll head up after work and finish the rigging...still get to sail on Saturday/Sunday...

Just realized I didn't get a shot of her loaded for the road, (I'm slipping) but she was sitting out side for a week or so while I finished the trailer details...Had a couple good rain storms and no sign of water intrusion in the cabin or bilge...so I guess re bedding rails and windows worked...

Trip was uneventful, trailer pulled down the road nice and smooth...launching went as planned (will see how retrieval goes Sunday)

Right now she's tied to the fuel dock in Washburn, cause with the mast laying on the deck (and over the bow) I'd block the pier if I was in my slip...But that does get me first in line for the crane so they can move it back to my slip...

I'll have computer on board so I will post pics tomorrow of her rigged and ragged...and then (hopefully no rain) Sailing shots from Saturday...

I still can't believe I'm actually getting to do this...

"If you need me...I'll be at the Yacht Club...."

Squidd.............. NICE WORK...... I vividly remember the "before" shots... so you can justly be very proud of your effort. She's beautiful! Whether you sail, or just hang out...you'll have way too much fun.

Squidd,

That's just friggin awesome. Let's coordinate for a RDV at Pike's; your GPS and stickers are on board Kestrel, and we can talk about race week!

Great job Squidd!
Sailing a boat that you've brought back from bad shape has rewards that can't be explained to someone that hasn't done it.
You put a lot of love and sweat into her and she'll pay you back when you need it.

This had to be the best weekend ever.. really, right up there with getting married...

Launched the boat that I rescued fom an charity auction...hauled half way cross country...worked on all winter...built a road worthy "launchable" trailer... Hauled it half way cross the state... launched like a dream.. and got to sleep n her and maiden voyage with the wife and my two girls...only hit one boat coming out of the slip from Hell (just barely nicked it)...got out on the big bay...5-10 knot wind with gusts to 15...Blew out the 34 yr old main sail (raise your hand if you thought that was a surprise)... put up the jib and kept on sailing...4 knot on just the jib (don't know if that;s good but we were sailing)...heeled to 7 degree.. much screaming.. heeled to 10 and then 15 in a gust... more screaming...eventually we were heeling at 10-12 degree and everyone was comfortable with it...out 4-5 hours...Nice dinner at the steak house overlooking the Marina...

Next day we were short on wind, sailed an hour motored for 3 and came in...hitting the slip is getting easy...time to load on trailer...slide it in slide it on and pull it out.. took less time than loading my 15' fishing boat...dang I built an awsome trailer...

Parked the trailer, downloaded the boat
and headed for home...Can't wait till the next time I can go out...

This really is cool stuff...

Thanks for all the nice complements on the boat...

I did put a good bit of work in it, but sure felt good floating out there on the bay going "I built this", "this my boat",(as opposed to a charter).... and I was surprised how many people recognised it as a Paceship and the compliments I got at the dock...

Squidd, the Lady looks awesome and you should be very proud. You'll find Apostle Island sailors to be very knowledgeable and possessing a keen eye for good looking boats. Welcome to the club!!

Slip From Hell...Slip one-Pier one....

Notice I have a 24' pier...26' boat (plus motor and rudder) and only 30' back to hit the breaker wall...

This is definetly where I'd put the "new guy"...Specially with everyone congregating round the Ship Store and Lounge (for when he takes off...)
