ODay 34 White Rocks Marina
I'm seeking info and advise on replacing the portlights on my Oday 34. They are the original PHYI ports and all are in bad shape.

Whats on your boat? (Part numbers would help)
Do you like them? Things to watch for?

I've assumed the cutouts are 4-1/2" x 10-1/2" …. Unless others know better, I've not removed one yet because I'm sure it will break. I've also assumed I need rain drains like offered from Beckson and Gray Ports (Bomar).

Sort of Related …. My fwd hatch is a mess also. I'd like to mount a modern hatch over the opening like they put on the Oday 35. (Yes I know Rudy has a replacement)
I think my biggest challenge is the surface isnt "Flat", has anyone taking this on?

your pictures and/or weblinks to products always help

thanks in advance

I replaced my portlights with Lewmar opening ports - anodized aluminum frame, no rain drain requried. The originals were Beckson plastic with the flange that sticks out - never liked them. Lewmar looks cleaner and works very nice. The outside of the frame is identical dimensions (same width, hieght and corner radius) to original but the cutout is larger. I filled in the gap between the deck and liner with epoxy and cabosil so any leaks cannot get between deck and liner (although I've had no leaks!) Better to see a leak in the boat and fix it than have it leak in between and be unknown. I then made up a pattern jig, clamped it in the opening and routed out the larger cutout.
