I'm in the market as were . Colonial Beach
I just got in from my Honeymoon. We cruised my boat up to Solomon's Island and stayed at a nice Bed and Breakfast called Backcreek Inn.

The trip was wonderful. The B&B was very nice and it got us off of the boat for two really hot days. Yesterday was a hot one too but we did the best that we could with it.

Today was saw dolphins off of St. Georges Point, MD in the Potomac River. It is hard to believe that they were 8 miles from the mouth of the Potomac River but it was very interesting to see.

No major issues during the trip, thank God. Noticed some black stuff in the bilge when I finally got into the dock and I have a feeling that it could be soot from the diesel exhaust. It was a bit warm when I discovered it but I cleaned the mess out of the bilge (it was just a few black splotches in the bilge smaller than a dime and only a few of them). I guess I will have to check out the exhaust system to figure out where it came from. The engine ran great and I temp held good but I did run the engine over 12 hours in the last 2 days (no wind and time constraints stink!).

I will post a few pics from the trip. I highly suggest the B&B. It had a slip included in the price and the slip was plenty wide and had about 8 feet of water at low tide!

Ya know, Bad,

I like your idea of a "surf and turf" honeymoon so much that, if I do it again
(marriage that is), I think I just may do the same...

Congratulations and Best Wishes ... hope to see you'all out on the Bay.

Thanks all.
It was a great trip. I think that I may try to do more of this in the future to keep her interested in the sailing. She gets some things that she likes (bed and breakfast) and she is with me when I sail. All are happy, life is good!

The pictures look great. How long did it take to make the trip between Solomons Island and Colonial Beach? Did you do much 'sightseeing' while there? FYI - I live about 14 miles north (by car) of where you were and many years ago docked my first boat at Calvert Marina, just across the creek from where you were.

The trip is about 60 miles. I did it on two 6 hour days. Unfortunately I put a lot of hours on my engine due to weather and deadlines. I hate having deadlines but such is life. At least I got out there for this trip. It may be the last time I see the bay this summer.

It has already gotten really hot out there. I hate cruising in the heat. The last full day on the water it was BRUTAL!
