Hi im a novice to sailing. I have just inherited a 1978 siedlemann 25' and I was wondering whether i can install a roller furling? any info would be appreciated. Also I ripped all the carpet out of the cabin and was considering painting it. Any rec's on how to or what type of paint? finally i need new cushions any rec's on where i can get them? thanks james email pomacoja@yahoo.com

Yes, but I think you might want to sail the boat the way it is for a while before making any modifications. Also, would recommend you get and read Dave Seidman's book, The Complete Sailor, which is about $16 at the book store.
Where was the carpet in the cabin? If it was on the overhead or the hull, then any good exterior paint will do the job. You don't need a marine paint for this.
You can make them up yourself if you have access to a good heavy duty sewing machine. Sailrite sells the material and thread, and a good foam rubber distributor will be able to sell you the foam you need. This is probably far simpler and definitely far less expensive than buying new ones.
BTW, change your e-mail address to something like:

SAilingdog is right on, but if you want to price cushions you gan get them made at most canvas shops, Sail-makers, or upholstery shops.

Do a marine-plywood floor and cover it with LONSEAL VINYL flooring that has a holly-and-teak pattern to it. Saturate the marine plywood with epoxy to prevent it from absorbing moisture, delaminating or rotting.
