Greetings, I'm sure several Yanmar owners have been thru this. The audible "Alarm" that sounds before you push the starter button to crank the auxillary has recently been coming on after the motor has been stopped and the key returned to the off position. At first it can barely be heard and over a period of minutes it gets louder. If the key is turned on and off the alarm goes silent but returns again. Someone guide me in the right direction. Thanks

the purpose of this alarm is to inform you of the low oil pressure in the engine. It is normal for the alarm to sound when you shut off the engine, but the alarm should go off when you turn off the ignition. The signal is initiated by the oil presuure sensor/sender. It may be a bad connection that does not turn off the electrical power to the sender once the ignition is off. I am not an expert, but this is what I think.

does that alarm sound for heat too.

May be the engine is running bit hot when you shut down it heats up a little more (normal) before it cools off. just enough to sound the alarm. ???

The Alarm Has sounded in years past on one over heat situation but I got a call from the marina,3 days later to let me know the alarm was going off. I don't know if it's moisture or if one of the engine sending units need to be replaced.
