Short answer is no. However, we are berthed in a commercial port and there are refineries in the area. Still, I am inclined to lay the problem on a supplier's doorstep.

Time passes and further replies are scarce....
and then a few days ago I noticed that our Aquasignal chart light cord was falling apart. 1988 model. Anyone know of a source for a new cord?

I was viewing a live video walk-through of a boat yesterday and I asked him to show me close-ups of the acrylic portlights (to check for crazing). He said "wait a minute, I'll get the Windex so you can see better". I said "please don't use Windex unless you're sure it doesn't contain ammonia". He checked. It did. The Acrylic is badly crazed. I told him ammonia can cause that. 
Better that it did not actually fail when you needed it!...and you see that the coiled power cord looks dusty, DO NOT pull it out and attempt to "clean" it. Time to find a replacement cord!

The gauge is only 24 but it may work OK without a lot of voltage drop. Or maybe you could put in an LED bulb at the same time for lower current draw.

Thanks for the ideas and links. Since the original one uses a higher-amp halogen bulb, and and LED would be more in line with the times.... I wonder if there is something like this sort of mounting available on the market. I note that Aquasignal does have a current version, but it's on a flex stalk which is nowhere near as handy for our chart table.
That said, situations requiring moving a light around to look at various parts of a paper chart at night are not as common as they used to be. We have the color plotter out at the helm and usually have the laptop computer open (and fastened down) on the chart table.
Now I wonder how many conductors are in that little cable? Next week I shall have a look-see.

For the lamp there should be just two conductors. There are other coiled cables that have 4 conductors that could be wired together for more current capability.
