...and you see that the coiled power cord looks dusty, DO NOT pull it out and attempt to "clean" it. Time to find a replacement cord!

Well, compared to the other stuff I was working on, I thought this would be "simple".

Rick It is a boat. Nothing is simple. Only thing worse is rehabbing a rental house.

Yes I have Rich... A few years ago when I was starting my project boat, the discussions was about how much time would be needed to do a task. I believe the consensus was 3-4 times the guess-estimate. Unless your helpers have beer... Then all bets were off.

No job should ever be started without beer. You can't go to a job site without a safety meeting, so why should this be any different?

Please note I did not say no beer, just that it will likely extend the time guess-estimate of the time to complete the task.

But isn't that the same as sitting on lawn chairs (having a beer) discussing in great detail the project plan to ensure that no time is wasted?

I thought that sitting in lawn chairs drinking beer was about betting how long the grass would grow before we run out of beer.

It's all about being thorough so no time is wasted.

Well I would make a comment about the "training beer" that you folks south of the border are forced to endure, but that would be rude, insensitive, crass and possibly border on political. So I'll get the shovel, clear the white crap off the deck and get the lawn chairs.
(There, have we managed to hijack this thread sufficiently?)

Gee, mine is 30 years old and is still as flexible and CLEAN as the day it was installed.
It's probably a supplier or sub-supplier issue. I have heard in ham radio circles that certain ICOM mikes had the same issue and I had a older marine radio (the brand of which I do not remember) do the same thing on a mike cord. It isn't the end of the world, but I sure wouldn't have tried "cleaning" it had I thought about it.

Is that why beer should be sipped not guzzled. No loss of beer. No spitting it up. No beer drownings.
That is unless the drinker is female and wearing a thin white tee shirt, then spilling down the front can be tolerated..

Do you have an ozone generator on board?? OR used ammonia or bleach based products when cleaning- both hard on PVC materials.
