It's probably a supplier or sub-supplier issue. I have heard in ham radio circles that certain ICOM mikes had the same issue and I had a older marine radio (the brand of which I do not remember) do the same thing on a mike cord. It isn't the end of the world, but I sure wouldn't have tried "cleaning" it had I thought about it.Gee, mine is 30 years old and is still as flexible and CLEAN as the day it was installed.
