I figured out why there was an unusual amount of resistance when raising the main-sail and square-sail ...

I had to replace the halyard sheaves at the top of the masthead. See link above and below:

Nice. Do you need to raise your windex so it is clear of the anchor light and bracket (It looks like wind from forward will be pretty much blanketed)?

Yes, you’re right the windex is about the same level as the top of the light, but below the light fixture it replaced so I count that as an improvement. If I’m in irons, I will probably know it without having to look at the windex! If I can find a bushing that’s 2-3” longer than the existing one the windex rides on, I’ll replace it, but not too worried about it.
