UPS for a large data center perhaps? Many years ago we replaced all the wet cell batteries out of a UPS very similar to the one in the picture. Of the 40 or so batteries, 2 tested bad so they were swapping them all. The old batteries were stacked up in the middle of the computer room and sat there for days, so I asked the boss about them. "Waiting for them to come haul 'em away", he said. Then he said "If you want any of them, go ahead and take as many as you want"! Called the wife, truck was there in a half hour and we loaded them up. I used three for my then current venture and they worked great up until I sold the boat. Great source of 12V for the boat for cheap

Hmmm....... don't know if I could fit all that on my Catalina 27... but I might try... because it would be nice to run the linear accelerator without being tied to shore power. Heh heh.

It's a shame to throw them out.

Didn't you know that the people that put solar panel on your roof at no cost (contract) doesn't come with battery storage. That means it only generate electricity during the day when you are not around to use it.

It'll be interesting to get a bank of these batteries for free and store the energy for use when you are home.
