Identifying a Macgregor: 22 or 25

Hello from snowy central Alberta!
Could someone shed some light on this....last April I bought my first Macgregor sailboat. Had a 11' Topper for 15 years, and needed to up the anty!
The boat was sold to me as a 1985 Macgregor 25 ( HIN MACG5542C585 ). The main sail has a marking " M 22 " on it, and there is only one window on each side of the cabin. All of the M25's I see on websites have 2 windows.
Mine has a swing keel ( cable winch right inside the cabin entrance ), v berth at bow, head not enclosed on starboard side, table/berth on starboard side, moveable galley on port side.

It came with the main, jib, and genoa all in good-excellent condition, and had many outings with it last summer, including an overnite.
Any help would be great....and thanks!

it looks like you have a 2-22.....the G designates either a 2-22 or a 23, but with your window configuration its pretty obvious its a 2-22. do a search of the two models on sailboatdata.com and see what you learn....
code is MAC =macgregor... G= 2-22 or 23... 5542= hull number... C=november... 5= day of month... 85=year produced

Not sure all that Information is correct. I restored a MacGregor Venture 25 with 1 window (factory). Its a 1972 with hull # 271. The swing keel winch is on the outside, at the Companion way entrance, in a longer Cockpit and LOA is 25'6'. In the 70's MacGregor did a lot of these variations. My Jib Furler is home made. Bow ports are my idea. In the 70's it had a very simple roller boom concept that works pretty good.

which is why we decipher the HIN to find out what it really is, rather than what someone thinks it might be...:biggrin:
