Bought brand new (2011) Achilles inflatable last year and the floor is already becoming unglued, wouldn't you know it the floor only has a 1 year warranty which expired last month. I am still waiting for a reply from Defender on the defective floor, however, thought I'd ask if anyone ever replaced a inflatable floor with a thick rubber mat or something else? The inflatable floor was a big mistake for me, had a wood floor in the past and will get a hard bottom next time.

Wow

I have the aluminum rollup floor and maybe you could put a different wood or aluminum floor instead if possible,I love mine and did once have air floor was nice and light and easy to carry and was going to see if I could put an air floor in place of the aluminum floor.

I have generally believed that Achilles and Defender are good and responsible companies. I would continue to press them for warranty even though it is a month out of warranty. It cant hurt. See what their response is. I would think that Defender may well press Achilles to honor it - Defender does a lot of business with Achilles.

Re: Wow

I used 1/2" Sea Board in our roll-up, it made it a little heavy but took the abuse.

By all means talk with Defender and Achilles. I had an issue with my Achilles dinghy that was almost five years old. The vender's rep told me that they had a quality issue with my problem and that they would repair the dinghy free of charge for me. All I had to do was to get the dinghy to and from them.

IMHO Achilles is a quality and reputable manufacturer. Give them a chance to make it right.

Friend of mine just replaced his with marine plywood. Looks great. He measure very close so the floor needed to be in place before inflation. He says the dinghy has never been more stabile.
