ID of older sailing dinghy_please help

OK, I'm trying to find out what this sailing dinghy might have been called. Here's what I know, sorry, no pics available:

Canadian built
Most likely designed in the 1920s-30s
Hull, rib and strake
Gaff rigged, single sail
14-16 feet long
No deck, just open hull

Any ideas?

Well thanks Charlie, that certainly gets me on the right track. It was a Peterborough boat I now recall. This gives me some leads to follow.
