Just bought a 93 23.5 Been busy cleaning her up and installed vhf radio. I need to remove the old ID numbers and was wondering if anybody has any good suggestion for this? Was told to try a hair dryer and bought some adhesive remover. Also I have a jib furling and have never put a front sail on one of these before is there any info out there on this. I have the manual for my roller. Hoping for nice day soon to practice the mast raising system thought if I can figure it out I would like to go ahead and put the jib on. Thanks for any help.

Removing numbers

We recently bought a used Hunter. We removed the old name (which was painted on),with oven cleaner. Just a thought ,but you may have adhesive decals ? Don't know if it works on those. Happy sailing ~~~~Pete

They should work

Lou: The hair drier and a plastic putty knife should work. Then some 'GooGone' on the adheasive should clean it up well.

Removed the Numbers from my 23.5 with a hair dryer and my fingernails with no problem, then cleaned up with mineral spirits. This also worked well for the side stripes when we put the name on. Mike S/V Sail La Vie

ID numbers?

I dont know what ya mean by ID #s, (Granpaw taught me is the silly man that don't ask) so I am asking, Do you mean the HIN? Or VHF? or Sails? The mineral spirits was a good idea, but as a Trimmer, I would never use such a heavy petroleum based product anywhere on my Boat. Wax and Grease Remover is reccomended on Surfaces, if you do use any Chemicals whatsover, get some Degreaser, Wax and Grease Remover to finish the job correctly. If is Cloth, most Sails are Dacron, and the good ones have a UV Protectant Coating on them,,so if you Remove any of the Sail IDs, be sure to replace whatever UV treatment that was degraded by the removal process. And if there wasnt any,,well get some and apply it. It usually aint the Cloth that goes first, is the Thread/Stitching that I have seen shot afore the Cloth was.
