Ice Box

I am considering putting in refrigeration......but.

Has anyone taken the old ice box out, or at least serviced the drain in the bottom.
How does the drain come out and where does the hose feed.?

If it's like my 32' CC...

... then it drains into the bilge, as does my shower. I would never want water with as much biological material in it in my bilge, so I haven't used my icebox or shower. A friend installed a utility pump that pumped both out directly, and if you have room, you could install a holding tank for the gray water, and then pump this overboard.

Icebox water is not as bad as shower water...its clean fresh water and if you have an inboard then the stuffing box is leaking into the bilge too and sounds like to remove the ice box would probably be a major construction project...have you thought about an ice box conversion
