The Ice box on my Hunter 31 is missing the liner. I don't know what it is supposed to look like, but when I look inside, all I see are blocks/slabs of insulating foam and several large openings to the bilge. Does anyone have pictures of what it is supposed to look like?

I would love to see a picture of your ice box without the liner. I have been curious what is underneath the liner, thanks

Here are some pics of my Hunter 31 ice box liner. When we bought it the refrigeration was removed so it is literally an ice box. You will see some ice down in the bottom. Would love to see some pics of what is under the liner.

Very nice! How do you maintain it? Keep it clean? Anything to worry about on a prolonged basis?

Nope as far as I know it's thirty one year old fiberglass with gelcoat., it drains to the bilge if we are going to be more than a day I put a cork in the hose that drains to the bilge to keep some water in with the ice, then just pull it to drain. I wipe it down with Clorox wipes from time to time and leave the top off between uses so that it will dry completely and not mildew.

I was incorrect in my first inspection of the Ice Box. The liner is still there, but the Previous owner added extra insulation on the inside of the liner.

Looks like I have another major cleaning project to do. I will not store food in this in this condition:

That is what I thought when I saw your pictures. I have had many intimate encounters with 3m General Adhesive Remover, good luck. BTW you can get a pretty decent respirator mask at Home Depot or Lowes.

Now I need to rebuild the Lid that insets into the Galley Countertop:

It has seen better days.

Don't rebuild it just get a piece of that plastic white board and cut to shape. If its a top loader it will also double as a cutting board! Chief

Don't forget to add some type insulation to the white board like insulation

Looks good! I am headed to my boat this afternoon. I will take a picture of what the p/o did to my top. I would think it would be easy to put insulation under the lid. On my boat the lid is covered with the same Formica as the other countertops.

So I rebuilt the Icebox Lid.

I Used the old one as a template:

Test fit to make sure it was correct.

Covered it in matching almond Formica.

Sanded Primed and painted the bottom.

And reinstalled.

That is a beautiful job. But I would for sure add some from of insulation to the bottom of the lid. I know that cold air is denser than warm air, but insulation is key for ice boxes. That's why Yeti and Pelican coolers work so well. Nice work!
