ice box drain removal

My ice box has been converted to refrigeration. Does anyone have an opinion on removal of the water removal pump. I could leave the drain in place (or not) and direct it to the bilge but it is unlilely that I'm going to put blocks of ice in there so other than condensation there is not lilely to be much water.
The reason I want to take the pump out is that I need the space where it is in order to run some duct work for another project.

We have always had a drain in the bottom of the box, but simply a gravity drain. If you do be sure to use a wooden plug in it since your cold refrigeration air will go down the drain. We did need it when defrosting, etc. Chuck

Chuck's summarized it pretty well. A drain is useful when you're cleaning the fridge or defrosting it...

When I converted by '87 H31 from ice box to frig, I used a "drain plug" to plug the hole, so when defrosting and cleaning out the water drained into the bilge. Beside, if you were on a trip and the frig unit died, you could still use ice, till you it repaired.

I would not fill the drain, just plug it.
