I recently bought a 1987 catalina 30'. I want to convert the orginal icebox to a refrigeration unit as I plan to live aboard. I would like to know which Icebox conversion units are suitable for the boat in warm waters. Any tips on what to do or NOT to do?? Does anyone know the inside cubic capacity of the icebox?? or the thickness of the insulation?? Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated. Sue

I would like to hear from someone who has done the conversion. I have a 1990 Catalina 30 and I am semi-interested in adding refridgeration. Being a slave to the ice bags stinks. How expensive is it to convert? Second question is where do you put the third battery? How you wire the third battery to charge off of the alternator?
