I was impressed!

Sorry that I didn't post these at the time... Four months ago, my wife and I completed a 'trip of a lifetime', a cruise to Antarctica! The standard description is that we went with very high expectations for the trip, and they were exceeded by a wide margin.

One of the biggest surprises on the trip was the presence of masts in a couple of locations! Not old whaling vessels, modern sailboats! The entire thought just blew me away! Another friend took a similar trip just a week before us and had very mild weather. Their crew kept calling Drake Passage, "Drake Lake". That may be not the smartest thing to do, but they managed to get back to Cape Horn and Beagle Channel with a very mellow passage. We, on the other, hand thought it was quite lively on our southbound passage, and were treated to even more interesting conditions going north... The announced conditions were (IF I remember correctly) Beaufort Force 9 with 9 meter seas!

Given that, and what my wife and I feel and deal with as we putter around the south sound, and poke our noses occasionally farther north... As I said, I was and continue to be impressed by those of you who have the skill, experience, knowledge, and confidence to pull something like that off! And, thank you for continuing to teach me on this forum, and for motivating me to continue to poke my nose a little farther north each time...

Two photos taken at Port Lockroy (former British Base "A"), Antarctica in January '15.
