Not only a great reference, in my head I heard Edward James Olmos reading this post....... :)
My reply was a little dark ("too bad she won't live"), but I hope Rich is successful in getting the filth out. I haven't read downthread yet...

Anyone else think Rich isn't drinking enough? Maybe you gotta retire. That would cure the cleaning addiction.

I AM retired. It doesn't help. Neither does drinking. What I really need it a "magic" cleaner. Or someone else to do the cleaning......

Did you ever consider becoming an Uber driver with all the extra time on your hands?

I thought I saw a stain, but as I scrolled from picture to picture realized it was a speck of dirt on my monitor screen. Been meaning to wipe the screen now for some time; maybe tomorrow. Don't be so hard on yourself Rich, "in the land of the blind the one eyed person is King".

Have you considered the $5,000 dollar option? Scuttle the old dinghy and buy a new one.

We use Bixler's Orange Off. Recommended by the business that sold me our dinghy 9 years ago. Stuff works great.

Is there a fabric covering the rubber hypalon pontoons? If not, then the maker used rubber compounding agents, like carbon black. If you have chemically altered the rubber or compound agents, there is no such thing as a "cleaner". You might try an automotive polishing compound (fine grit) to buff out the damage.

Picture 1 shows streaking, like something dripped down the sides and "cleaned" it. So if your water line of you floating dinghy is at about the top of the stained area, then the cleaning (streaking) took place after you took the dinghy out of water. Get my drift?

I like the challenge, chemically speaking.

I follow @Rich Stidger for several reasons, one is he and I have the same year and model Volvo Penta engine. I am now working on making my engine look as clean as his, per his advice. If I remember, Rich is the Original Purchaser of his boat. Thus he is "keeping up" and not "catching up" like me.

But there are several level of cleaning...
1) Quick hide stuff, unexpected guests.
2) Sweep the dust under the rug
3) Sanitary smells and mold removal.
4) Detail cleaning
5) Prideful maintenance remembering how she should look.
6) I will get to it later, lets go sailing!

Rich you could do level 2) and buy a new dingy cover.;)
Jim...

PS: Remember as we age, we all get a few wrinkles.:frown:

Nothing covering the pontoons. And the pictured stains are on the inside of the boat, not the outer surfaces.

Try "Oxyclean" from Walmart, etc., mixed with water. It's cheap and works for me.

Rich. Grandkids. Need one with the same attention to cleaning. Then sit back and encourage. While you sip something that is helpful. :)

As I've grown older(still pretty young and learning-36), I've come to realize that function is much more important than appearance. I try to stick to these 3 principles. #1 keep it in good working order. #2 try to keep it clean. #3 **** it, life is short, enjoy it!!

The RI Rib dealer I use suggests Mean Green for hypalon. He sells it but it's also available by the gallon from Lowes/HD. I use it for lots of things now since it's cheap. Also doesn't irritate my skin like On & Off and doesn't have the weird smell of simple green. I'm not sure it will fix your stains but it can't hurt to try.

I am adding to the list of cleaners that might work. Thanks for your suggestions.
