Hi Guys, After reviewing a few of Craig Smith's posts, from Rocna Anchors, I had to write him to let him know of my utter disgust. Just know that I sent him a rather harsh email in a fit or rage. I have decided to NOT share it due to a few response I received. That were deserved! What I wrote to Craig NEVER should have been shared here! My mistake and I'm sorry!! I would be glad to explain why I feel I can speak to Craig this way and would be glad to fill any of you in on the details, which go deeper than many of you would know, and NO I don't work for him and NO he gave me NO deal on my anchor! I will only do this off line for those interested! I decided to delete the email instead of edit it. What I sent, is what I sent, and I have no regrets (for good reason which you guys would not know). I am not into making my self look better by editing what I wrote to him to tone it down here because it never belonged here to begin with. In hindsight it was a bad mistake on my part to share it with you guys as it's really between me and Craig! For those that think, and have called me, a kiss a$$ to Craig, just now that I am not.. That's all carry on with Sailing..

why be someone else's moral compass?

it usually doesn't work and only serves to make the originator look pretty arrogant as in this part: "I stated I have serious clout with some of the most widely read sailing forums.... I can have you permanently banned..."

A satisfied perhaps disgruntled customer?

If your product endorsement is worth that much how come you can't even get a discount? Sincerely, this is not the place to vent your fustrations. You are not that important. Let's, talk sailing.

Here?

None of this belongs on this forum...Maine Sail, your email does not sound like an email sent by a rational, intelligent, smart businessman. You are po'd fine, write your email, then sit on it for a day, change it as necessary, then send it. You are certainly not enhancing your reputation (you claim to be so concerned about) putting a nasty profanity laced email on a forum.

A bit over the top, IMHO

Don't get me wrong, Maine. I have alot of respect for your knowledge, opinions and experience, and thank you for taking the time to share them with us. However, I somewhat agree with others that you are taking this one a little too far. My grandma had a saying, "Empty drums make the most noise" don't lower yourself. It's time to talk sailing and move on. Ross

Sometimes the filter stops working

Especially when I am angry. I don't fault MS for what he did but I agree that sitting on it for a little while might have helped. I have been there too and sometimes I consiously think "if I sit on this I will edit it" and I send it knowing that it will be strong. I have been criticized for this on many occasions but never have I been criticized for not giving it to you straight. Most people who know me like that about me. I have a loyal bunch of guys who work for me that wouldn't have it any other way. Must be my "rip off the bandaid quick" style of management;-) Ok Phil, over to sails call.

for what it's worth...

...I understand your passion. A truly great product is so tragically overpriced that if you walk around most marinas you won't see a single one stowed on an anchor roller. Why should we care? Because the next time I'm hanging on the hook and it starts to howl in the wee hours of the morning, I'm gonna wish the other boats sharing "my" cove had something a bit more substantial grabbing the bottom. No worries, MS. It would take a lot more than this to spoil the shine on those topsides.
