Last weekend I was coming into Ponce Inlet, it was hot and we had all the hatches open to get a breeze below. There was a lot of traffic, mostly power boaters fishing or stopping on the beach and swimming. Think of it as rush hour. On the way in someone had called a tow and towboat buzzing out to get them one mile out.
As it was low tide I had to stay in channel and head south and turn hard starboard to proceed north up the ICW cut. As I approached the turn Towboat passed me with said none functioning boat, and stopped on the side of the channel to hip tie and get it running. I went around them just before the turn and making my turn north was greeted by a power boat heading south on my side of the channel, I fell off and passed him to his starboard and as he passed turned sharply back to the proper side of the channel, feeling annoyed at him making me go wide As I turned off to my port side not 40 feet ahead was a john boat anchored on the edge of southbound side of the channel. I never saw him, I could have easily run him down. I just waved and the guy and he said hello, crazy. Good thing I only go 5 knots.
