I owned a bigger boat for an hour

My boat was launched last week. It was scheduled for this week. I received a call from the yard manager inquiring if I was ready to go in. He said he was moving boats from my winter storage area of the yard and asked if I was ready to go in. He asked if the zincs were on, lines and fenders on board, bottom painted. I said “Go for it!” While he was moving the boat he said to himself, “Gosh, this is a big boat”. When he put it in the slipway, he said “Gosh, this is a big boat”. When he splashed it and looked down upon it, he said, “Gosh, this is a big boat”. When he walked around to the back of it and looked at the name on the transom, he said “Gosh, this is supposed to be “AKERS AWAY”, not “STARDUST”. He had mistaken a Beneteau 445 for my Legend 37. In the Northeast’s frenzy of spring launching and the actual similarities between Beneteaus and some Hunters he had confused the two boats. So, I guess that I can say I owned a larger Beneteau for about an hour this spring. I laugh at this situation only because I know the yard manager and crew from the boatyard. I don’t intend on being critical and am certainly not attempting to solicit any criticism. That is why I’m sharing this story. We all know that at this time of year confusion does occur and launch schedules get interrupted. Nothing damaging happened in this situation except for some egg on the yard manager's face. My boat is now in the water (a day later) and I’m happily completing my commissioning of AKERS AWAY with an intended first weekend sail over Memorial Day weekend.
