I was going to say the same...Im in South Florida...and sail a lot in Biscayne Bay. Northern Sailors dont know the meaning of rain till they've sailed through a Florida afternoon Summer downpour! It flattens any chop to nothing in a heartbeat.It seems to happen rather frequently down here. Don't know if the wall of water knocks the speed out of the winds or if the pressure of many gallons in freefall just flattens the crest of the waves. It seems short lived fast moving storms only stir a thin top layer of the water that settles rather quickly. It can seem freaky.
