compartment. I seen replacement sheets not long ago but can't remember where. I guess I'm suffering from CRS. If you can point me in the right direction, I would appreciate it.
Here's a much better choice. This stuff is made by the same people as the other post but it has a SOUND barrier. For engine rooms, you need that. Of course it's double the cost for less product.
It sounds like you have first hand knowledge of this brand. Has anyone you talked with ever tried a double layer to see how many more decibels can be reduced. I'm sure it would not be twice as much, but could be worth the extra cost. The price of the stuff on your link was a lot cheaper than some of the other soundproofing I've seem online. Thanks in advance for your response.
No, I've not tried it but I have a small engine room 'box'. It's hard enough to install one layer. The first time I did the job the engine was so quiet it purred. I used the sheet stuff from a company in Seattle named Huff or something similar.(Hough maybe) It wasn't lead either but it was inch and a quarter. Most stuff today is only one inch thick. The lead stuff is even quieter but it'll cost you a new mortgage. Also the first stuff had the barrier sandwiched inside the foam mat. May new insulation from Sailors Solutions.com has it on the inside surface so it's not pliable. I'll probably order the rolled up stuff in my link to finish the hard spots.P.S. That kit is only 12 square feet. You'll need 2.6 kits to equal a sheet of plywood. My small box took 24 square feet and still needs more.
