Can anyone advise on how to rig a "portable/temporary bimini" for my Hunter 22?

A Tarp

It's easy. When I had a Calatina 25 we used to drape a blu poly tarp over the boom and use bungi cords from the grommets to the lifelines. Set up in seconds.

All Kinds of Tarps Out There

If you decide to go this route, some of those tarps are blue on one side and silver on the other. Silver side up would sure reflect alot of sun and heat. Gotta keep that beer cold somehow! "Festivity" H26

It's the real thing.

Sherry: What about a permanent bimini. Several of the catalog companies probably have something that will work right out of the box.

BIMINI

I just installed on last week on my 81 "22". I bought it at that large BOAT supplies store... It cost me $149.00 for the 42" tall model. You will need to install it so the support arms are about a foot or so apart The rear bow's connection will be fwd of the front bow's connection. The whole rig is able to be removed (best done at the dock) or disconnect the straps and stow her up aft behind the boom (you can also buy a boot to cover it when it is rolled up.

Sunshade works well

We purhcased one of those sun shade deals for our 240 and we love it. Of course you can't use it when moving, but its easy to store, easy to put up, attractive and really keeps the sun out of the cockpit. (If you do get one, follow the directions that say not to use it in winds over 10....we ignored those instructions and had to repair a bent rod....pretty stupid on our part) Bill Welsch s/v Renewal
