I have a 16 ft. day sailor I would like to learn the history of. The paper work I got with it days it was built in '62. It has a small metal plate with American Boat Building Corp East Greenwich, Rhode Island written on it. It has no HIN or numbers. Thaks for any help.

That's a place to start

the boat was built ten years before HIN was required. so research the American Boat Building Corp.

Pearson hawk?

ABBC is related somewhat to Pearson. A guy named Potter worked for them and then went to Pearson in the 60s. Check out this link. Is this your boat? If there is a HIN on it, it should start with RFR. That is ABBC's identifier. Can you post a photo? http://pearsoninfo.net/hawk/hawk.htm Tim R.

According to the August 1985, Insignia Guide from Cruising World, American Boat Building Corp of that address, are only listed as builders of the Block Island 40 and Galaxy 32. Post a picture of the Insignia on the sail, and perhaps the search will net better results.

..We've discussed this before...

Would like to see a picture of her for sure, but I would bet you are talking about a 16 foot Falcon. We talked about this boat a year ago. She was my first real boat (not including sunfishes), that I had as a teenager. I loved her (except for being single hulled). I hear someone up here in New Hampshire ended up with mine and totally restored her. Does she look like any in that link under "falcon 16"?
