I need affordable sails.

Hello folks! My wife and I recently purchased an O'day 20' "Sandy victim". She needs quite a bit of work and among the issues are sails. I would appreciate any and all tips on good suppliers. I am hunting on ebay and so on... no idea is too crazy. I dont relish tellin the missus that $800 for a jib and main is the best I can do!

Baconsails.com here in Annapolis. They have a warehouse of sails on consignment. I've bought AND sold there.

After thinking about it, I'd go with Ron's suggestion.
An outfit like Bacons has the experience to grade used sails whereas an individual might think his or hers are in better condition than they really are.

Search the web for salvaged or discount sails. I have stumbled over a few with reasonably priced sails. I was oogeling a spinnaker in excellent condition for my Lancer 25 that was going for $250.

Try Bacon & Associates in Annapolis, MD. They have used sails at good prices but most importantly, they tend to underestimate the condition of the sails; e.g. a "good" sail is usually closer to "very good". I've had great success with them over the years.

Make sure you know your boat's J,I (jib) and P,E (main) measurements. Also figure out what a 100% LP size is so you can size headsails.

On new-to-the-boat sails you can go a bit smaller on JIPE numbers, but not bigger.

WOW! Thanks guys! Thats enough to get me started in the right direction! I chanced upon a main for $80 that looks servicable (on ebay) which is better than I hoped for!
