I need a new C30 Rudder, suggestions?

I ran aground over the weekend. No big deal, put it in reverse as I have so many times before, this time...SNAP. Not pretty, the rudder snapped in half. It must have hit a bump. Fortunately my insurance will pick up most of the repair. The downside, I'll miss about a month of an already short season. I see Catalina Direct has the rudder, I'm waiting to hear back from them and am praying they have it in stock. Does anyone know of any other suppliers for this part?

ouch!.....lucky your insurance covers that, I had an expensive weekend too but nothing thats insured.
sounds like your fastest and best bet is going to be Catalina

A good boat yard can rebuild one. I had mine rebuillt in Oriental, NC. It took about a week and the end result was better than the original. Foss Foam made most of the original Hunter rudders. Not sure about Catalinas. Worth a call to them if Catalina Direct can't come through.

Ed, I've thought about rebuild. I'll leave that call up to the boatyard. There are two close by that service sailboats and have good reputations.

Foss Foam makes them for most any boat. The problem is the lead time and transportation times.

Thanks for the heads up on Foss Foam. They told me 7 - 10 days which is reasonable. I'm still waiting for the guys at Catalina Direct to get to work (west coast vs east coast).
