All went well, I was told that I did not need the graft after all and just needed to have a few things patched up. All in all, things went real well and I feel great or should I say, "better". The only real pain I have is where the stiches are. I am back in my club (cast) on my left hand and have been instructed to "STAY AWAY FROM THE BOAT", give my hand a break and let it heal. The biggest problem I have is that, since for the most part, I have no pain and therefore I think I can do what ever I want to. The fact of the matter is that I did mess up my hand and I have to take it easy. I see that I now can move the very end of my thumb and there is no doubt that my hand will heel and that I will be sailing soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I want everybody to know how much your support has helped me and I thank you all very much!!!! Check out the link below for info on the Dr.'s who are carring for me, It is awesome as to what they can do. They have set up a rehabilitation program for me as soon as I am able to start it and I can't wait. An ex-employer of mine said that they would like me to come back to work for them but not in the shop, they offered me a job in the office and will let me know on Tuesday. I am not sure if I will ever be able to work in a shop ever again but I will give it a try. Thanks again everybody. Fair winds, smooth seas and god speed to y-all!!! Steve, s/v (Rover)(?) Thanx for the good news.

And patience Steve, patience! I used to ride my bicycle with a young fellow who has enough racing trophies to fill a wall. Except for hills he could stay with almost anyone. He had just one leg.

That's Great, Steve!!!

Steve, I'm so glad this surgery went well. Quote: "....have been instructed to "STAY AWAY FROM THE BOAT". Yeah, Right!!!<G> I had Carpal Tunnel surgery a couple of years ago and the Dr. told me the same thing. That lasted about 2 weeks!!! Well, one of his partners is one of my racing crew and went with me, so I guess I was still under "medical supervision"! Take care of that hand.....remember the adage, "One hand for the boat and one hand for yourself!" You'll just have to use the same hand for both jobs for a while.<G> Dick Vance H-25.5 "Honey Bear"

Great News!!!!!!!!!

That's GREAT news, Steve! Hopefully the hand will be ready for the sailing season. Good luck with the rehab! Your experience, and your willingness to share both that experience and your own feelings as you went through it, has been marvelous. It has left a mental reminder that will reinforce our own discipline about tool and work safety. You have helped us all to be more careful in what we do and how we do it. Good luck!! Good Deal

Steve, It sounds like things are working out. Thank God, I was concerned that with some of the initial response that it could have been worse. I am glad that you will be sailing and that you may be in for an interesting job change. I know that desire for working with your hands. I am in the same boat. But truely, I have wondered how long I can do this at the rate I am working now. This may be a blessing in disguise! Push on Steve... r.w.landau
