jackdaw, is that you way back in the center passing your bota bag to that fine looking woman?
Nope, we were on the other side of the island. The shallow 'party' cove on the north side is perfect for this type of hi-jinx, while the deeper, more protected bay on the south side is much better for anchoring. We were only a 100 yards from this, but a world away.

We sailed on Lake Murray Saturday and were in awe at how few boats of any sort were out. Didn't go yesterday but went to the club briefly today. We coulda had the lake basically to ourselves if we had sailed. Lake Murray has the reputation for being crowded. So far I haven't seen why.

All boaters should have to sail before getting on any power boat, but that would likely only weed out a few , the rest would still be idiots.

Suggestion for Marine Authorities: Why not allow discharge of expired flares on July 4th? I have a box of these in my attic with no idea of how to dispose legally.

I've never lit a flare much less fire one of those flare guns.

Maybe it is time in Greenport, NY for one of those CG Maxillary Safety days where you get to shoot a flare and jump in a life boat wearing a PFD...

Rgranger, I experienced that malarkey at SML as a dealer on the fourth of july and avoided that night of the fireworks. Sad you did not get his numbers on the boat. You learned just like me but that was over 25 years ago. I bet it is only worse.

OMG! A bunch of boats, a bunch of drunken boaters, a bunch of flares. What could possibly go wrong? :yikes:

Well, I sorta like the "beer infused urine" thought. Just not while I'm in the water nearby, of course.
One wonders which ecstatic face in the photo is due to such a "release".
