I have some Lexan you could use to cover that hole in the bulkhead. ;)

Roger, now that I have checked out your link, I must commend you on your planning and design work. You obviously know what you are doing.

Roger-Winter is over! I have been working on the boat for weeks in a T-shirt. No need for a heater. Maybe you should install a nice AC unit in that hole to be ready for this sweltering spring that is upon us.

Roger,
You don't seem to like simple projects! If it were my project I would probably get a few cans of Sterno and be done with it.
At least you will have more creature comforts while cruising the Maine waters you love.

It looks a bit more reasonable now that the heater brackets are in place:

The Newport heater mounts on this "pan", shown here on top of the tank being piped up:

The pan slides over the angles and is secured with three S.S. F.H. machine screws on each side. To mount, I used a hole saw to make four 1 1/2 inch holes in the portion of the bulkhead now missing and clamped the whole assembly in place and checked the location. I then removed the machine screws, pulled off the pan, and screwed the angles to the bulkhead. The pan fit back on perfectly. The slots are to slide over the pipes that will come in from under the berth to port.

The bulkhead tank will be painted the same color which is Rustoleum high temp BBQ grill paint.

Here is the the filter for the heater. It came without any provisions for mounting so I fabricated brass mounts. The flat sided elbows used for the piping are great for easy pipe mounting.

Did you run a finite element analysis model to see what cutting the hole in the bulkhead will do to the stiffness of the boat? Or will the heater add back the rigidity for that which was removed? You might be able to follow Larry Ellison's lead and get Boeing to do a CFD model for you just to make sure. I'd hate to see the boat crack in half and sink like that ACC boat a couple years back off San Diego when the wind whipped up to about 8 knots.
