After a grueling winter here in the NE. I finally had a chance to work on my new to me hunter 27' 1977. I started by removing as much of the interior woodwork as possible and taking it home. Cleaning, sanding and semi-gloss urethane is making everything look good a new! The main sail is brand new! The previous owner was very helpful and started the Yanmar 8 hp up for me. The engine seems to run fine. The previous owner installed two new fuel filters, changed the oil, water pump impellar and new zinc. I must say however, the engine appears very rusty. It was originally white. Has anyone cleaned one of these up one of these? I sanded down the teak outside teak and am planning on Cetol for finish. I also sanded out the anti-skid deck areas and am planning the West marine pre-mixed antiskid polyurethane finish. Practical sailor gave it very high ratings a few issues ago. I am very excited!

Hey, I just got my hunter 27 too!

Hey John, you and me got our hunter 27s the same time!!!! Mine is a 79. (looks brand spanking new inside and out!) Hehehe....I only paid 3,500 for it! And it was loaded ful of extras. Hey, maybe you and I can comunicate as we both work on our boats! Did you here how I was able to bring my hunter 27 home via a flat bed and a ful size truck? It is now sitting out front of my home. I drove it over 250 miles or so to get it here. (45 mile per hour top speed) Take care, Skipper from Ohio (Eric Stanson)

eric...send me your e mail!

mine did not come with many extras. However, it did include a brand spanking new main sail and cover and 5 of the nicest boat stands you ever saw in your life. My plan is to take it easy on the improvements this summer and get a feel for the boat. My main concern was with regard to compression problems under the mast. Mine appears to be just fine. We sail in Nantucket sound off of Hyannis, MA ..Awesome sailing to quite a few Islands (Martha's Vineyard, Nantucket and the Elizabeth Islands). I am very excited! I am thinking about holding on to our current 23' swing keel kells just in case I don't like the larger boat with larger boat problems. Unfortunately, I can't see anyway in the world of getting the mast up without a crane. Tell me more about your boat.... john pethia@hotmail.com

Hi John, From you New Friend, Skipper (Eric)

Hi John, I copied your e mail. Mine is Marina@buckeyeinternet.com or skipperofthebaybee@buckeyeinternet.com Hey, I have a web site with many members. In fact, we have a pretty active message board there too. The site is called Skipper's South Coast Yachts. South Coast Yachts are no longer made any more. but there are many owners still out there. I happen to own a S C 22. As you, I decided to keep my smaller yacht. And I use it often! I find there are many times I prefer to sail it rather than the larger boats I own. I have the Hunter 27, Luger 26, South Coast 22, Nacra 5.2, Two Sun Fish and a dingy. Hehehe I know,, too many boat! But they all have their purpose. Hey, let me throw you the link to my web site. http://groups.msn.com/SouthCoast22SkippersbayBee/_whatsnew.msnw And here is a link to a particular message I posted on the message board of Skip's South Coast Yachts showing off my Hunter 27! It is a photo of the exterior just after I washed her the first time! And notice I have her on a flat bed trailer! Hehehehehe. All things are possible with a little elbo grease and lots of good friends! If you find time, join skips. It is free and you and I will be able to stay in better communication! Also, you will find there is much more to Skip's than just Sailor Talk! After a while, you will find that you have met some of your best friends. And there are times you will laugh and times you will cry when it comes to the messages these sailors post. (A very special group of people) I look forward to hearing from you any way you choose! Your New Friend, Skipper (Eric Stanson) from Ohio
