I posted a picture of it a couple of years ago but no one seemed to know. While looking for an electrical short I noticed that the fitting is connected to a 1/2'' hose that once ran to the galley. It is fastened to the underside of the port side seat. It is obviously for pumping salt water to the galley. There are two pump faucets on the sink.
My question is why would you want to pump salt water to the sink, or is it for use in freshwater lakes?
Is it worth hooking it up again?
What kind of fitting is it? One way?

Many boats with limited fresh water wash and sometimes rinse dishes in salt water to conserve freshwater. It would work okay that way in lakes using lake water instead of potable water.

salt water pump in galley is for washing dishes--then you rinse in fresh--saves a lot of potable water rom being dumped overboard for no reason!!

I have one of these split off from my raw water hose for my engine, is doesn't work, it might need to be primed, but I haven't figured that out yet. The pump might also be bad on mine too. I wouldn't mind using it for washing my hands off etc if trying to make fresh water last.

Dawn brand dishwash detergent works well in salt water. No reason to not use it and sea water for your dishes and hand washing. Just rinse with fresh water if you want.

Thanks, I'll try it. The galley is a slide out.

Any ideas on setting up the plumbing so it can still be slid away without disconnecting?
