I broke my Sherwood Raw Water Strainer Winterizing Bowl….

I have a Sherwood raw water strainer bowl that I use for winterizing my engine each year. I fit it with a plastic garden hose barb. I then attach a hose from the strainer to a 5 gallon bucket, that also has a garden hose barb. It works great and has for years. Neat, clean operation.
But today I dropped the strainer bowl and the plastic hose barb fell right out. Stupid…. I’m guessing it reached its usable life span and the glue dried out.
Now I would to replace the plastic fitting with a brass one. The reason being, the plastic ones threads are stripped and it really doesn’t hold has tight. So I guess all in all it was a good thing that it dropped.
Are there adhesives that will bond the two pieces together and be watertight?
You know, it wasn’t the prettiest tool in the tool box, but it was a favorite and worked! I’m mad!

Thank you dmax.
I was so mad when it dropped out of my hand. You know the kind of juggling act that you do when you try it stop what you know is going to happen anyway.
Then I just stood there in disbelief and I couldn’t remember what I used to glue that fitting in the first time.
I don’t know why it the adhesive failed, it’s only been 22 years, you would think it was old or something.
Thank you again, I’ll get the G Flex.

I"d get the Gflex 655 - that's the thickened version. They also have the Gflex 650, but that's pretty liquid - that might give you difficulties applying it.

Good advice from all. I did get the 655 for the thicker application. Given the gaps and roundness of my design it really does help.
I didn’t include in my photo, the backing nut and washer on the inside. Both were sitting right there but didn’t get in the picture.
Thank you all for the help.
